About Me

 
   My name is Emily Akowski, I am of Yoeme + European lineages. I was born x raised on Tohono O’odham land, Chukson, Arizona. Home is the source of inspiration for so much of my art as well as my birthwork offerings. I am so grateful to tend to this land and to bring & sustain life in our desert. 

   I have been called to birthwork since I was a child. Caring for my siblings and growing up within a big family I was always interested in ways to help care for and learn about the needs of the people I love. That love of growing connection has only expanded throughout my journey & the paths I’ve tended to. Learning about the lack of education, support, and care most birthing people in my life have survived, the unnecessary trauma they endured through the medicalization of birth, and knowing we not only can do better, we must do better, has led me to the medicine I share and continue learning and growing with.

   Cultivating trusting support for birthing people and the full spectrum of their experience to center care, autonomy & justice moving towards a world that values life and those who birth it. Birth is revolutionary. Birth is ceremony. My calling is to help create an environment where you feel respected and empowered in any and all stages of abxrtion, pregnancy, miscarriage, birth & postpartum. Whether that is through education, bodywork or spiritual support. I would be honored to be someone who supports you and guides you back into a place of power and sense of self during this life changing transition. 

   My support extends across various identity and cultural expressions. I am especially passionate about supporting birthing people who identify with the following communities.
